George Johnson & Company first listed in 1815 Furnival street and was active until 1904. The razor is in perfect vintage condition there are no signs of pitting on the blade just a little on the tang (nothing major at all). This razor has a near wedge blade 6/8th (20mm) at the widest point.
Engraved on the tang are the words Johnson(hammer and seven stars). There are no chips or cracks in the blade overall in very good condition with a nice polish and a barbers notch. The razor comes boxed in an period coffin case. The razor is very clean it is not shave ready but can be made shave ready on request. The scales are perfectly pressed horn.
With just a minor chip nothing major at all. Pressed horn scales of this period often depicted famous celebrities of the time. Usually made for specific markets.This scale depicts George Washington , Benjamin Franklin, Edward Preble (US naval officer) , William Shakespeare. American Eagle engraving with inscription Liberty "E pluribus unum". This razor has been sterilized.
