Pattern name is a type of Flying Geese, with a more complicated twist on the traditional. My interpretation is the "geese" are flying around the sun. The precision on the piecing is outstanding! As long as I've been quilting, I don't think I could produce these results. Blocks have the appearance of being "on point".
Instead, the alternating blocks are pieced, almost a Drunkards Path, curved construction. This forms a scallop design in the inner border. Handmade, this quilt is machine pieced and machine quilted. Machine quilting is done quite professionally, in a meandering scroll and leaf pattern. Binding is not on the bias, but the corners of the binding are mitered. Hand sewn down on the back. It measures 63" x 80". All cotton, looks to be quilt shop quality fabrics.Batting seems to be 100%cotton, or maybe a 80% cotton 20% polyester heirloom blend. Backing is a slightly mottled ecru.
